Dani Gurgel & Debora Gurgel bring their original Brazilian Jazz to the USA in September. Beats and lyrics from Brazil with contemporary jazz melodies and harmonies take Brazilian Jazz to its roots and back into a new approach.

Debora Gurgel‘s compositions and arrangements are extremely sophisticated, having written especially for Jazz Sinfônica Orchestra, Tom Jobim Orchestra, Lilian Carmona, Chico Pinheiro and Amilton Godoy (Zimbo Trio). Dani Gurgel‘s voice is an instrument, joining beautiful lyrics and complicated vocalises with the sax player precision from her big band days. They will be joined by drummer and producer Thiago Rabello, who is featured in all of their albums, and by bass players Jon Burr (Boston & NY) and Tim Carey (Seattle).

Dani & Debora have always played important parts on each other’s albums. This tour is the ultimate union of their work, with mostly their own music, some of Dani’s compositions with other partners (Filó Machado, Sara Serpa & Maria Schneider) and a few bold arrangements of Brazilian classics by Tom Jobim & Hermeto Pascoal.
